Jesus at the centre transforming our community
St Peter's Parish comprises three church communities (St Peter's, St Mark's and St Swithun's) that express God's love in a variety of ways and provide different styles of worship. We provide a home for different groups: pre-school children, young people, celebration events, space for reflection or the more formal and more.
Right at the heart of what we are about is helping people know God in their own experience, especially through prayer and worship.
For those who want to explore what this means in practice we regularly run an eight week 'Puzzling Questions' course. These introductions to Christianity allow people to reflect on Christian life and spirituality without any pressure or expectation. Part of our vision is to be a church for all ages, with activities and relationships that are open to everyone.
In introducing St Peter's Parish to you, I believe that, old or young, single or with a partner, comfortable or finding life hard, you can be sure of a warm welcome.
With prayers and best wishes
You might like to read Isaiah 54:2-5 (below) or listen to it here.
"Clear lots of ground for your tents! Make your tents large. Spread out! Think big! Use plenty of rope, drive the tent pegs deep. You're going to need lots of elbow room for your growing family.
You're going to take over whole nations; you're going to resettle abandoned cities. Don't be afraid—you're not going to be embarrassed. Don't hold back—you're not going to come up short. You'll forget all about the humiliations of your youth, and the indignities of being a widow will fade from memory.
For your Maker is your bridegroom, his name, GOD-of-the-Angel-Armies! Your Redeemer is The Holy of Israel, known as God of the whole earth."
